Welcome to the official website of APSCE SIG on CT Education & STEM Education (SIGCTE&STEM)!

The SIG is built on the foundation of the 4-year CoolThink@JC project from April 2016 to April 2020, which is created and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, and co-created by The Education University of Hong Kong, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and City University of Hong Kong. The project aims at designing and piloting a formal curriculum for computational thinking education (CTE) in Hong Kong primary schools to move students beyond mere technology consumption and into problem-solving, creation and innovation in the digital era. By the mid of 2018, the project has benefited 112 teachers and 16,500 Primary 4 to 6 students from 32 pilot schools. The CoolThink@JC project has organized a conference series named the International Conference on Computational Thinking Education (CTE conference series) for worldwide sharing of ideas and dissemination of findings and outcomes on CTE development. The annual conference since 2017 includes keynote speeches, invited speeches, panel discussions, workshops and paper presentations; and publishes an ISSN-coded proceedings to include all the accepted papers in the conference. The CTE conference series from 2017 to 2019 had over 1,000 participants from 15 countries/regions per year.

The SIG is inspired by the academic network formed through the CTE conference series abovementioned. The SIG is an academic network with 10 scholars from 8 countries/regions (including Hong Kong, Singapore, USA, Taiwan, Germany, Sweden, Japan, and South Korea) to exchange their experiences and outcomes in the planning, implementation, evaluation and promotion of CTE.
